Should I use a Stylist to Stage My Property for Sale?

So, you’ve decided to put your property on the market.

The average person might feel a bit lost at this point, contemplating their next move in the big wide world of real estate. But not you. Before even contacting an agent, you went ahead and fixed your front fence and replaced the kitchen tapware because you’ve watched enough episodes of Selling Houses to know that a house must be presented for sale if it’s to fetch top dollar.

You’ve painted, hammered and WD-40’d your heart out, so now it’s time to sit back and let the agent do their thing, right? Well, that depends.

Preparing a house for sale will mean different things to different sellers. Ultimately, you want your home to appeal to as many buyers as possible. Personal touches are great but remember, people want to imagine making their own memories in the space.

We had a chat to Steph, owner of property styling company Bungalow Home about the importance of property styling.

Great to catch up again, Steph. First up, can you tell us a little about Bungalow Home?

We are a bespoke property styling and furniture package company that executes every home with individuality. We cater our selections based off your specific home. As each home is different and unique, we believe every job should be thoughtfully curated to create its own unique story. Property styling should transform and complement a home and create a lifestyle that appeals to a range of buyers, without taking away from the home itself.

Why do sellers come to you in the first place?

Sellers and agents engage property stylists to create a home with the most idealised and sought-after look. After all, if the home is dressed to a high standard it creates or enhances the perception of the lifestyle that the buyer could have.

Where are some of the main areas sellers get stuck when styling a property for sale?

A struggle clients often have is creating a cohesive look throughout the entire space. People have beautiful or favourite pieces but find it hard to incorporate the same aesthetic throughout the home.

Why hire a professional to do the styling for you?

First impressions count! It’s important that buyers form an instant emotional connection to the lifestyle that comes with your property. A home or investment property is often your largest asset, so appealing to as many potential buyers as possible is key to getting not only a faster sale and higher price, but the best possible return on your investment.

What makes Bungalow Home different?

We take away one of the main pressures of selling a home by utilising our skillset and vast repertoire of quality furniture, homewares, and art to create cohesive luxury throughout the property to appeal to a wide audience.
